Meet Mitch O’Hara, Candlewood East Marina

July 19, 2014 By Linda McCaffrey

mitchoharaBoating and lake living was not always a family passion of the O’Hara family, who have now owned Candlewood East for 30+ years. A fortuitous trip to Lake George set the family on the path which would lead them first to join the Marina and then a few years later to purchase the 3 acres of level Candlewood Lakefront property. Over the last 10 years the town has seen the family buy what used to be a tennis bubble and build a high end boat sales and servicing operation tied to the newly renovated club style marina. Originally purchased by the O’Hara family, the operation is largely the responsibility of son Mitch Jr. who came into the business directly after college.

The facility offers boat owners the opportunity to not only enjoy the lake from their boats but also have a social and recreational community of people with similar passions. Members include those who have bought boats from the marina and dock them there as well as lakefront property owners who have been clients of the sales team and are looking for a place to tie up and enjoy the outdoor amenities and private restaurant on the property. There are also limited social only memberships available for the non boat owners. Lush picnic areas, indoor and patio dining options, playground, lifeguards, sandy beach, multiple dining options, changing rooms with showers, outside lockers and 240 boat slips are a few of the amenities. Activities range from the availability of catering and private parties to club wide activities and movie nights under the stars.

You will find three generations of the O’Hara family on duty during the season including 7 grandchildren. Running the business has truly been a family endeavor. Stop by the showroom for a tour of the facilities and to check out the boats for sale including new and pre-owned boats by Cobalt, Malibu and Nautique.

Contact Mitch O’Hara at (203) 775-2253 or learn more about Candlewood East Marina at www.CandlewoodEast.com.
