Marianne’s philosophy of counseling is an integrated approach to the physical, emotional and spiritual health of her clients. As a private practitioner for over 30 years, Marianne has a BS in Psychology and an MA in Addiction Counseling. She also completed a 4 year program in Energy Medicine and most recently was awarded certification in Applied Positive Psychology. This latest field of study highlighted the need to identify and work on the strengths of the individual rather than dwelling on “what’s wrong”. Self awareness, being present and mindful, and fostering the connection with oneself are the first steps she identifies so that her clients can flourish.
The most common issues that she sees are, anxiety/depression, stress and time management, family and marital conflict, life transitions due to children, divorce or death, substance abuse, weight loss, intimacy issues, and trauma or unresolved childhood issues. She noted that the number one anxiety is the fear of humiliation. Her services include group and individual sessions as well as Whole Health Wellness Workshops.
Marianne is a lifelong learner and is an avid reader. She believes that emotional health starts with taking time for yourself and with healthy, positive connections with others. She believes that people need to be authentic and honest with themselves or, as she put it, “Show up for Yourself.”
