Our Town, Our Schools

Welcome to the wonderful community of Brookfield, Connecticut! The Brookfield Public School system is made up of four schools dedicated to the success of its students of all ages.

Improving Student Learning:

At Brookfield Public Schools, providing our students with access to a well-rounded, high quality education is our top priority. Our diverse curriculum includes Advanced Placement classes, Student Success Plans (SSP) as well as traditional courses. A Student Success Plan is an individualized student-centered plan that engages every student and is developed based upon their unique interests and strengths. This helps students understand the connection between a quality individualized education and “Creating Their Tomorrow.”

Enhanced Learning Programs:

Brookfield has enhanced the K-8 programs with the implementation of the Columbia Teachers College Readers and Writers Workshop model and a new mathematics program. At Brookfield High School students choose courses from a robust Program of Studies. Students engage in a supportive academic atmosphere which includes the Student Writing Center (based upon the UCONN model), and an award winning Robotics Club and DECA Program.

World Languages:

The school district and community place a high value on the K-12 World Language Program. Proficiency in a modern world language enables direct communication with people of other cultures. Additionally, it helps students gain insight into themselves and their understanding of their own culture and English. Through the study of French (7-12) or Spanish (K-12), students develop a foreign language foundation that will likely impact the rest of their professional careers.

Visual and Performing Arts Programs:

Brookfield Public Schools believe education goes beyond the traditional curriculum. The program enriches students with a unique education by providing a diverse array of visual and performing arts classes. The art courses are designed to give students the opportunity to explore and develop their interests in the visual arts while students who are interested in the performing arts can choose from a wide range of opportunities depending on their musical or dramatic interests. The drama and music productions are annual highlights for the entire community!

State of the Art Technology:

Brookfield has an ever-evolving technology infrastructure that supports our students’ global connectivity, communication, and research through Internet access in our wireless school environments. An array of Chromebooks, iPads, and desktop computers are available for the students. Parents and guardians have access to the student “grade book” portal through the district PowerSchool program. Part of the ongoing technology improvement plan includes upgrades to many classroom presentation stations as well as the new website www.brookfieldps.org, which is regularly updated at both the district and school levels. Intentional efforts to ensure timely and accurate communication between home and school is accomplished via a variety of methods including video talks, newsletters and social media updates (Facebook and Twitter).

Award Winning Athletics Program:

Brookfield High School touts comprehensive and award-winning athletic and extracurricular programming. In the past year, the boys soccer, girls
swimming and football teams have all won State Championship titles. The Brookfield High School Unified Sports Program was recently
designated as a “School of Achievement” by the Connecticut Association of Schools – Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CASCIAC).

Strong Internal/External Support for Public Education:

The administrators and Board of Education provide a strong support system that allows for Brookfield’s faculty to continue providing an
excellent academic experience for all students. As a result of a supportive budget, the district hired several new staff members for the current school
year. As a district, Brookfield Public Schools is committed to supporting all students including English Language Learners and as such, hired a
full-time, certified Teacher of Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) teacher. Rounding out Brookfield’s newly hired professional staff is a
new District Technology Director.

The daily work begins with each of us as we hold ourselves and each other accountable to ensure the children enjoy an extraordinary educational experience. We support and work with each individual to set challenging goals and inspire our students to stop at nothing in Creating Their Tomorrow!
